Welch, Lightford to Host Free Thanksgiving Turkey and Ham Giveaway on Nov. 24

WESTCHESTER, Ill. – House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch and state Sen. Kimberly Lightford are helping hundreds of local families put a Thanksgiving dinner on the table by hosting a Drive Through Turkey and Ham Giveaway on Monday, Nov. 24 at 10 a.m. outside Welch’s constituent service office at 10055 Roosevelt Road in Westchester.

“Everyone should be able to share their gratitude and celebrate togetherness this Thanksgiving, but people just trying put a meal on the table are facing some of the highest grocery prices we’ve ever seen because of erratic leadership in Washington,” Welch said. “This year in particular, I’m so grateful to live in a state and a community where we support each other, and I’m excited to do my part to ensure that everyone’s Thanksgiving meal fills their stomachs and fills their hearts.”

Welch and Lightford will provide 200 families with a free turkey or ham at the drive-through event Monday. One turkey or ham per car, while supplies last.

Welch also joined local McDonald’s operators for a Thanksgiving meal giveaway this week in Broadview.
