In an exclusive sit down interview with WGN-TV Political Editor Tahman Bradley after the vote, House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch praised lawmakers for taking their time on the 376-page bill. The measure would give the Bears and other developers of multi-billion dollar projects the ability to negotiate a special payment with local government, instead of paying higher property taxes. Half of that special payment would then be set aside for homeowner property tax relief.
